The Navy has conducted a Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) Five-Year Review (FYR) for Former Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) El Toro in Irvine, California. The Navy conducted the FYR in accordance with the requirements of CERCLA Section 121(c) to determine whether the remedies being implemented in accordance with the Final Records of Decision (RODs) for Installation Restoration Program (IRP) Sites 1, 2, 3, 5, 16, 17, 18, 24, and Anomaly Area (AA) 3 continue to remain protective of human health and the environment.

MCAS El Toro - The Department of the Navy has issued an Action Memorandum for a TCRA to address potential explosive safety hazards on private property adjacent to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Training Range as well as addressing naphthalene-impacted soil on the EOD Training Range. The Navy invites interested members of the public to review and comment on the Action Memorandum during a 30-day Public Comment Period, from November 1 to November 30, 2016.

MCAS El Toro -- On April 27, 2011, the Department of the Navy will host a public meeting to discuss the Proposed Plan for groundwater remedies at Installation Restoration Program (IRP) Sites 1 and 2.

MCAS El Toro -- In late July the Department of the Navy, the California Department of Toxic Substance Control, and the US Environmental Protection Agency signed the Explanation of Significant Differences (ESD) for Operable Unit 2B (Site 2 (Magazine Road Landfill) and Site 17 (Communication Station Landfill)).
