NAS Alameda -- The Department of the Navy (Navy) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), as joint lead agencies, are extending the public comment period for the Draft EA for the transfer of excess Federal property and development of an outpatient clinic, offices, and National Cemetery at the former NAS Alameda, California until Friday, April 19, 2013. A Notice of Availability (NOA) of the public comment period and announcement of a public meeting was published on February 22, 23, and 24, 2013. The notice announced the initial public comment period, including two public meetings which were held on Thursday, March 14, 2013. The initial public comment period requested the submission of all comments on the Draft EA by Friday, March 29, 2013. In response to public input, the Navy and VA are extending the public comment period until Friday, April 19, 2013 (total 56 days).
In addition, a third public meeting will be held to provide an additional opportunity for the public to receive information and comment on the Draft EA. The meeting will be preceded by an open information session to allow interested individuals to review information presented in the Draft EA. The third open information session and public meeting is scheduled for:

Federal, state, and local agencies and interested individuals and organizations are encouraged to review and comment on the Draft EA or attend the third public meeting.

The Draft EA is also available for viewing at the City of Alameda Planning Division (by appointment only); City of Alameda Public Libraries – Main, Bay Farm Island Branch, West End Branch; City of Oakland, Citywide Planning Main Office (by appointment only); City of Oakland Libraries – Main, Cesar E. Chavez Branch, 81st Avenue Branch, Dimond Branch, Eastmont Branch; and San Francisco Public Library – Main. Single electronic compact disk copies of the Draft EA will be made available upon request by contacting the VA at the address in this notice.
