Notice of Availability of the Explanation of Significant Differences (ESD) for Operable Unit (OU) 25, Hangar 1, at former Naval Air Station South Weymouth, Massachusetts

NAS South Weymouth – The Navy has completed this September 2019 ESD which changes the selected remedy outlined in the December 2011 ESD to the 2010 Record of Decision (ROD) to remove the Land Use Controls (LUCs) established in the December 2011 ESD related to perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). The LUCs established in the December 2011 ESD are no longer necessary because groundwater use at the Hangar 1 site is now restricted by the LUCs outlined in the February 2018 Basewide PFOS and PFOA Land Use Control Implementation Plan (LUCIP).

NAS South Weymouth - The U.S. Navy announces the availability of an Explanation of Significant Differences (ESD) for Operable Unit (OU) 4, Fire Fighting Training Area (FFTA), at the Former Naval Air Station South Weymouth, in Weymouth, Massachusetts. This September 2019 ESD changes the selected remedy outlined in the August 2013 ESD to the 2004 Record of Decision (ROD) to remove the Land Use Controls (LUCs) established in the August 2013 ESD related to perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA).
