Navy Releases Evaluation of Radiological Remedial Goals for Buildings at Hunters Point, Opens Comment Period

10 October 2019
The Five-Year Review report for the former Hunters Point Naval Shipyard (HPNS), released on August 6, recommended that the Navy evaluate the building radiological remedial goals. Today, the Navy is releasing its evaluation of remedial goals for buildings for review and comment by stakeholders.
The Navy evaluated the remedial goals for buildings. These evaluations estimated the maximum radiation dose and the risk to indoor workers and residents from exposures to potentially contaminated building surfaces at Hunters Point. The Navy found that the radiological remedial goals for buildings achieve the CERCLA protectiveness standard and are protective for future building users.  The evaluation of radiological remedial goals for buildings is available (see link below). The Navy welcomes public comment on the report until November 10, 2019. Any questions or comments should be submitted to Mr. Derek Robinson, derek.j.robinson1@navy.mil.
