The Department of the Navy (Navy), the lead agency for site activities, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region III (EPA), in consultation with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP), selected the remedy detailed in the ROD. The response action selected in the ROD is necessary to protect the public health or the environment from actual or threatened releases of hazardous substances into the environment. 

The Selected Remedy for Site 12 soil (OU11) is Soil Alternative S-3 – Limited Soil and Sediment Removal, On-Site Consolidation, Soil Cover, Land Use Controls (LUCs), and Long-term Monitoring (LTM).
