Public Notice - 5 Year Review of Long Beach Naval Complex

The United States Department of the Navy (Navy) is the lead agency implementing Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) environmental cleanup activities (remedies) at the former Naval Station Long Beach and the former Long Beach Naval Shipyard, known as the "Long Beach Naval Complex" (LBNC) in Long Beach, California. This notice informs the public that the Navy is currently conducting a Five-Year Review (5YR) under CERCLA for Installation Restoration (IR) Sites 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14.
The remedies at these IR Sites were implemented to address chemicals of concern in soil, sediment, soil gas, and/or groundwater that pose potentially unacceptable risk to human health and the environment.
