Former Naval Shipyard Mare Island - 30th Anniversary

31 May 2024

From Marie Dreyer

The former Mare Island Naval Shipyard (MINS) conducted its 30th Anniversary Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meeting in April. The RAB is integral in providing the local public information and status on the Navy's ongoing environmental program at the base. The April RAB was also the anniversary for two of the Mare Islands RAB members who have been serving on the board for the entire 30 years! A note from a RAB member captured the sentiment of gratitude and pride:

“Hello. Congratulations to Us, 30 years of effort! We in Vallejo are very lucky to have and be a part of the RAB. Navy staff, Agencies, and Contractors' efforts, attention to detail, and follow through are to be proud of. Thanks to those that have been invested from the beginning. Mare Island reuse is the better for all the meetings, studies, testing, and remediation. For us in Vallejo, who have a high regard for our history, when our Historical Buildings are saved as a result, we are very happy and honored for your regard. Go RAB, Go Mare Island, Go, Vallejo!
